But if you’re the DIY-type, you might be wondering why you should hire a professional to take care of your demolition project. Doing it yourself will save you money; plus, it’s a great way to get out any pent-up aggression and will definitely give you a sense of accomplishment. But before you start swinging those hammers, keep on reading to find out why leaving demolition to the experts is a much better option.
It’s Much Safer
Tearing out sheetrock, ripping up flooring, and knocking down walls might sound like a lot of fun, and it certainly can be; however, it can also be extremely dangerous.
There are a lot of variables that need to be taken into consideration. You have to ensure you are using the right tools, you need to know which walls are load-bearing, and you have to find out if there is any plumbing or electrical wiring in the walls or floors. Plus, using heavy equipment can lead to injuries if you don’t know how to operate it the right way. One wrong swing could result in complete and total disaster.
It’s Cost-Effective
You might be under the assumption that doing demolition yourself will save you money, but in reality, it can end up costing you a lot more than hiring a professional demolition and carting company would cost. You’ll need to purchase the right tools and materials to do the project on your own, and that can cost a pretty penny. You also have to arrange to have the debris hauled away. If your refuse company won’t take the debris, you’ll have to pay a special company to take it for you. And, if you end up disrupting the structural integrity of the building or do any other type of damage, the repair costs can be exorbitant.
It Will be Done Faster
At first glance, it might not seem like tearing down sheetrock, pulling up flooring, and knocking down beams will take a long time; however, if you’re trying to do it yourself, demolition can take a lot of time. And if you run into a snag, the project will take even longer to complete.
You’ll Get Professional Results
When you hire a professional demolition company, you’ll get professional results. A professional crew will make sure that everything is removed properly and that no bits or pieces are left behind (nails, screws, broken pieces of wood, floor tiles, etc). Plus, they’ll clean up when they’re done. All the debris will be removed from the site, and all dust and dirt will be swept up and vacuumed. And, if your project involves demolishing only a portion of your home or business – say a bathroom, a kitchen, or to prepare for a new addition – a team that specializes in demolition will take all of the necessary precautions to keep the dirt and debris contained to the area they are working on and won’t damage the rest of the structure.
Safer, faster, more affordable, and professional results; these are just some of the reasons why you should forego doing a demolition project yourself and instead, leave it in the hands of a professional.
The professionals at JunkRaps can handle demolition projects of all shapes and sizes. Whether you want to have a structure completely torn down or you want to strip your kitchen down to the studs for a remodel, you can count on their crew to get the job done safely, quickly, and affordably. Westhampton Beach is an incorporated village in the Town of Southampton, in Suffolk County, on the South Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,721.
The village of Westhampton Beach was incorporated in 1928. In 1938, almost all summer homes on its barrier beach were obliterated by a hurricane resulting in twenty-nine local deaths.
Like most of the shoreline of southern Long Island, the beach at Westhampton Beach was eroding shoreward. This became a political issue in the 1960s. The project to protect the beaches in the area from further erosion was started by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1966, but was only partially completed because of the failure to secure funds from the state and local government. In addition the project design was seriously flawed. As a result, there was increased erosion at the beaches in Westhampton Beach while, up current, the beaches actually grew. During the late 1970s and through the 1980s, beach homes were washed away with every severe storm (nor’easter) that hit the coast. It was only after the nor’easter of November 1992 destroyed over eighty homes, that the Army Corps of Engineers began renewed repair efforts. In the mid-1990s, fifteen historic houses were relocated by the Army Corps of Engineers. The homes were moved off the beach and out of harm’s way, at least for a while, but the beach is still eroding and addition damage is incurred with every storm. Additional work was required after Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
