Top 3 Mistakes to Avoid When Renting a Dumpster in Long Beach, NY

Not Estimating the Correct Size

One common pitfall when renting a dumpster for projects in Long Beach, NY, is misjudging the required size. This mistake can lead to overspending if the dumpster is too large, or facing the hassle of renting a second dumpster if the first one is too small. It’s crucial to assess the scope of your project accurately. Whether it’s a small home renovation or a large construction job, getting the size right the first time can save significant time and money. JunkRaps offers a variety of dumpster sizes and provides personalized advice to help you choose the perfect one for your specific needs.

Choosing the right dumpster size is not just about the volume of waste but also about the type of materials you’ll be disposing of. Heavy materials like concrete and soil may require a different approach compared to lighter, bulkier items such as household junk. JunkRaps experts are well-versed in the waste management needs of Nassau County and are ready to assist you in making an informed decision. With our guidance, you’ll avoid common sizing errors and ensure your project in Long Beach, NY, proceeds smoothly.

Ignoring Prohibited Items

One of the most costly mistakes you can make when renting a dumpster in Long Beach, NY, involves disposing of items that are prohibited. Certain materials pose environmental hazards or require special disposal methods and are therefore not allowed in standard dumpsters. These include hazardous waste, electronic waste, and certain types of construction debris. Disregarding these rules can result in hefty fines, additional disposal fees, and could potentially harm the environment. JunkRaps is committed to sustainable waste management practices and offers clear guidelines on prohibited items, ensuring your project complies with Nassau County regulations.

To avoid any complications, it’s important to familiarize yourself with the list of prohibited items before filling your dumpster. If you have questionable items, JunkRaps’s team is readily available to provide assistance and suggest alternative disposal solutions. The city of Long Beach’s first inhabitants were the Algonquian-speaking Lenape, who sold the area to English colonists in 1643. From that time, while the barrier island was used by baymen and farmers for fishing and harvesting salt hay, no one lived there year-round for more than two centuries. The bark Mexico, carrying Irish immigrants to New York, ran ashore on New Year’s Day.

Austin Corbin, a builder from Brooklyn, was the first to attempt to develop the island as a resort. He formed a partnership with the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) to finance the New York and Long Beach Railroad Co., which laid track from Lynbrook to Long Beach in 1880. That same year, Corbin opened Long Beach Hotel, a row of 27 cottages along a 1,100-foot (340 m) strip of beach, which he claimed was the world’s largest hotel. In its first season, the railroad brought 300,000 visitors to Long Island. By the next spring, tracks had been laid the length of the island, but they were removed in 1894 after repeated washouts from winter storms.

In 1906, William H. Reynolds, a 39-year-old real estate developer and former state senator, became involved in the area. Reynolds had already developed four Brooklyn neighborhoods (Bedford-Stuyvesant, Borough Park, Bensonhurst, and South Brownsville), as well as Coney Island’s Dreamland, the world’s largest amusement park at the time. Reynolds also owned a theatre and produced plays.
